Full site editing landed in WordPress 5.9 in January 2022. Every Evo theme is built for it: theme.json for design tokens, template parts for header and footer, block patterns for the sections buyers edit most. No classic themes in the catalogue. $59 each, or $79 a year for the Evo catalogue.
FSE means the site editor edits the header, footer, archive, single, and 404, using the same block library as the post editor. Both save to the database, not to a PHP file you have to FTP. If your buyer knows the block editor, they can edit an FSE theme with no theme-options panel and no page-builder licence.
What an FSE theme actually contains.
A theme.json for palette, typography, spacing, and layout. Template parts in /parts/ for header and footer. Templates in /templates/ for front-page, single, archive, and 404. Block patterns in /patterns/ that appear in the block inserter. Nothing lives in a proprietary options table.
